Alizah, please share with us how you Be Love in the world :)
"I BE LOVE by educating our youth at @kipp_empower_academy, running a non-profit @loveactivists and being a new mama and wifey. I am a full time elementary school teacher implementing a curriculum that I created combining the study of mindfulness, social-emotional learning, and social and environmental justice.
The non-profit I started empowers children to love themselves, love others, love the earth and take action to make the world a better place! I run an after-school mentorship program, host community events and build bridges between Topanga Canyon and South Central, Los Angeles. This past year I wrote a children’s book about social justice and the impacts of systemic racism on our youth. I met the love of my life, had a backyard quarantine wedding, and I gave birth to my first child a baby boy named Courage."
Why did you choose the Be Love design you're wearing?
"It’s all about love in action. How could I not choose
LOVE ACTIVIST!!! Almost 5 years ago I left Topanga to move and work in South Central, Los Angeles. I created my organization but couldn’t think of a name for it. I went back and forth with different names for over a year until I took a trip back home to Topanga and visited the @beloveapparel store. Light was coming through a window and shining on a shirt. I screamed “that’s it!!!” And asked Kyle and KamGi if I could use LOVE ACTIVISTS as the name of my non-profit. They said yes and donated many shirts to my organization all while being a loving support for us throughout the years."
